"Our pets' heads are falling off!"

I admit that I have seen "Dumb & Dumber" multiple times.  Bailey, however, has not seen it and probably never will.  So she just doesn't get it when I add the quote "Our pets' heads are falling off" to the end of any list of things going wrong.  If I am grumpy and complaining about multiple things at once it will make me laugh and feel better if I end my tirade with the line from the movie.  Here is an example - "The house is a disaster, Ellie tracked in mud all over the hardwood floor, the laundry is not putting itself away, and ... Our pets' heads are falling off." See how it makes everything seem better?

So when the body of Bailey's little rubber dinosaur somehow became disconnected from its head, I had to use the line.  Bailey was less than impressed. Here is the poor decapitated toy:

And here is the clip from the show, just for fun!

A Rough Morning

You know you are having a rough morning when your choice of lunch is a Mike's Hard Lemonade and a chocolate bar from your daughter's fundraising candy.  Yes - I am going to pay for the candy bar.  No - you don't have to worry about me.  I don't normally drink during the day.  I don't even normally drink in the evening.  I did open this cooler last night but didn't finish it.  It was staring at me in the fridge today so I decided to polish it off for lunch.  Being a stay-at-home mama can be a bit hard on the nerves sometimes.  Don't judge me.

Two sure signs of warm weather

Cherry juice covered kids and ladybugs.

When life gives you mud holes ...

We still have a giant mud hole where our street should be.  Each time it starts to get dry the rain comes again.  On Sunday we had Travis, Jen, and the kids over for the evening, and I decided it would be fun to let the kids head out into the mud to "explore."  There were strict instructions to stay out of the super muddy areas, which of course Bailey ignored.  Tyler managed to stay fairly clean, and Caden only dunked one shoe in the mud.

The next day we got more rain, and the mud lake got bigger.  Bailey was complaining of nothing to do so I told her to get an old swimsuit on and see how muddy she could get in the street.  It turns out she can get pretty muddy.

A Last and A First

Bailey had her last day of preschool on Wednesday, and I have to admit I was a bit sad.  So was Bailey.  She was nervous and bummed about it for about a week leading up to the day.  Preschool has been such a great experience for her here, and it was really the first stable thing she had when we came to Miles City.  We didn't have a house yet, and Josie was a newborn and requiring lots of my attention.  Getting Bailey into a routine of going to school and having her meet friends and her great teachers really helped us.  I get a bit teary right now because I feel like it was such an important part of our transition, and I am so thankful that she was at Let Me Shine this year.  They put on a very cute program on the last day followed by a reception.  We are hoping to get together with some of her friends this summer, and she is excited to see who will be in her class when she starts kindergarten in the fall.

On the same day as her last day of preschool she also had her first t-ball game.  Miles had to be in Helena for the week so it was a busy day for me but we made it all work.  Josie was quite tired by the time the game was over, but we didn't have any major meltdowns.

Down came the rain

It has been raining for a few days now, and everyone keeps saying we really need it.  I'm sure we do, but I personally need some sunshine!  On a positive note - the road construction outside our window is not happening today and the sweet sound of silence is worth every drop of rain.  We have been living with constant rumbling and beeping from the very large trucks and equipment from 7:00 am until 6:00 pm all day.  Here is the current view from our front window.  It may be a day or two until the machines can make it through that mess.

The rain has also forced a cancellation of Bailey's first t-ball game, which gives us a few more days to try to teach her how to actually play t-ball.  We haven't been winning any parenting awards in that area.  Poor girl has no idea.  She thinks it is all fun and games though, which I guess it should be anyway.  There won't be any first game pics for a bit so here are a couple practice shots.  What you won't see is a picture of the almost broken nose that just about happened when Bailey was running home from third base and another kid was getting ready to bat and taking warm up swings.  I'm not sure what Bailey was looking at but it wasn't the baseline.  Just about gave Grandma Lynn a heart attack.

Accidental Cuteness

I needed to take a quick picture with my phone to try out some new download setting.  I looked around and saw the girls playing and snapped a shot, not expecting much.  Then I saw this ...

Don't it just make you smile?!

Grandma Lynn Visits

Grandma Lynn got here on Wednesday just in time to go to school with Bailey for the day.  I think Bailey felt pretty darn special.  Grandma got some cute pictures of Bailey at school with her friends.

Of course Grandma brought lots of fun crafts to do with Bailey.  They made some yummy cookies too.  I think I ate a few cookies worth of dough before the baking.

Bailey has been wanting to check out the Range Riders Museum here in Miles City but we never found a good time.  We decided to take Grandma and see what it was all about.  I warned Bailey that she might be disappointed because I didn't know if it would be much.  Boy was I wrong!  The museum is great, and Bailey would have stayed for hours.  We had Josie with us so we had to keep moving, but we will definitely go back.

We also hung out at home and visited too.  It was so nice to have Grandma here.
